Maps, drawings, and photographs from the early projects in Chaco Canyon are critical to understanding the prehispanic occupation of this important region. Thanks to the generous collaboration of several institutions--most notably the National Anthropological Archives of the Smithsonian, the American Museum of Natural History, the Maxwell Museum at the University of New Mexico, and the Chaco Culture Museum--approximately 7,500 images from research in Chaco Canyon have now been digitized and are searchable (below).

  • Images showing human remains have been excluded from the searchable database because of their cultural sensitivity.
